The National President of Konkomba Youth Association, Mr.Charles Nyojah has asked all Konkombas within and outside Ghana to put on hold the funeral celebrations in the wake of the outbreak of Coronavirus.
In a WhatsApp message,the president said it is in the best interest of all Konkombas to protect themselves against the corona virus which is fast spreading and killing thousands of human beings worldwide.
According to him,all social gatherings of Bikpakpaam should be put on hold to avoid them being involved in health and security matters.
Coronavirus can be transmitted through air,and contact with the virus when an infected person coughs without covering his or her mouth.In a gathering of people when an infected person happens to be around and coughs can infect hundreds of people ,hence the need for isolation.
Ghana as of today has recorded 21 cases of the virus while world wide has recorded over 11,000 deaths according to the Worldbarometer.
It can be recalled that coronavirus pandemic started in December 2019 and has since being in the system and spreading like wildfire killing thousands of people.
It is common seeing thousands of Konkombas gathering during final funeral rites mostly during dry seasons and stay for 4 to 3 days.
This message came few days before Soldiers from Bimbilla storm one of our communities to dispel thousands of people on the last day of the funeral in Bolni community,a suburb of Bimbilla in the Northern region where celebrations were ongoing for the past five days.
